Bring Out the Blue

Today I did something I have never done before. I bought make up. And something for my hair called "Gigahold Freeze Hair Putty."

I know that I am a rare 24 year old woman for never buying any of this stuff before, but it seems like a lot of time and energy that could be spent doing other things, such as reading a book or sleeping in a little longer on weekday mornings. Plus, this stuff is expensive! I really had no idea!

So, what made me switch over to the other side? Well, I love to get dressed up a bit when I go out with my friends. I take extra time picking out the right shoes and the perfect outfit, so this is a logical next step. The few items I got are strictly for fun, not for daily application.

To be honest, though, looking at all of this stuff makes me a little nervous. So, I expect a lot of support in the form of compliments that prove the promises on each package are true. If you see me, please be sure to comment on my intense i-color powder shadow carefully applied to "bring out the blue." Ask me if I have added "volume and length" to my eyelashes. And, please, don't hesitate to tell me that you love how my hair has "style that defies gravity." (But only if you really mean it.)

Yes, folks, while I have spent a large portion of my day visiting a friend and her 17 day old baby, reading a book about Islamic women and politics, or researching information for my looming thesis, these are not the thoughts at the forefront of my mind. Instead I'm wondering if Purely Plum is a good color for my cheekbones. I promise, as soon as I publish this post, I will mentally move on to other, more important things...such as whether or not I should have admitted all of this in a public forum in the first place.

Ha. I told my students that even at my advanced age, lipstick feels weird on my lips, and frankly, I really don't like it.

Also: Why does foundation have to smell bad? I don't want to slather my fasce with stinky putty.

Just wondering.
