Today is the last day of school, and the last day I will ever walk into the building I've been working in for the past two years. It's strange to think that I will probably join all the other New Yorkers in never stepping foot in my school's neighborhood again.
I am surprised by how not sad I am. I will miss my students and coworkers, but overall I feel relieved to be leaving. I'll still be in the NYC school district, and I know that I'll have new trials (and some of the old trials) at my new school, but faced with two months of free time and the potential of a new environment, I can only smile.

Ah, your attitude about two months of freedom is so different from mine. Me? I'm lost without my students. I've been trying for two weeks to get into the spirit of having no lessons to plan, no papers to grade--but it's hard. Maybe I'll adjust to the lack of pressure in another week or so.
But you? You're welcoming the break with open arms. Good for you. Enjoy your summer!
