Here We Go Again

It's been about 36 hours since I woke up from a nightmare about the first day of school in which I got into a huge argument with another teacher in front of my students AND lost my hyper-organized First Day Folder. I'm only just recovering from the nightmare and the real first day of school is mere hours away. My bag is packed, (with my First Day Folder double-checked in its appropriate place,) and my back to school outfit is laid out. Lesson plans are made, rules are in place, bulletin boards are decorated, and I'm more concerned by how little I have left to do than anything else. It's not possible I'm this prepared. Surely I've missed something. I check once more that my First Day Folder is exactly where it's supposed to be. It is. Will I always have this anxiety the night before the first day back?

I know your window is missing but I have been assured that it is being made. Good luck, I know you don't need it, but there it is.

I don't know - how long have you been teaching? I had them AWFUL this, my first, year.

As in, I didn't sleep the entire night. I still shudder to think of that night (3 weeks later).

I get those dreams toward the end of August. Usually the dream is about a normal school day, but there's something that I forgot to do, or some important paper that I lost. Or else I get the dream where it's morning and I'm rushing around trying to get everything together and I can't find anything I need and I'm late for the first day. Ugh. I HATE that dream.
